One thing our patients find with us is empathy. We realize that oftentimes they have been struggling with pain or frustration for years. In fact, that's what drives us to ensure an accurate diagnosis for each of our patients. With that in hand, we are in a much better position to actually treat the underlying problem and not just the symptoms.
Medicine has always been a part of my life. I grew up with a physician father, an OB/GYN. On occasion, he would take me to the hospital with him. I loved hanging out in the doctor’s lounge while he’d deliver babies, then listening to him dictate his notes on the car ride home. In college, I found myself drawn to medicine during my biology and human anatomy classes.
One of the reasons I enjoy ENT so much is the complex anatomy, but also the wide range of conditions and, of course, the ability to make a real difference in the lives of my patients. It’s important to me to get to know my patients, and I enjoy treating individuals of all ages. While the variety in ENT is extremely fulfilling, I do have a special interest in treating nasal and sinus disease – especially with the latest innovations in minimally invasive surgical and in-office techniques that often lead to decreased post-operative pain and quicker recovery time.
The motto I try to live by, “treat everyone like you would like to be treated,” works just as well in my professional life as my personal life.
On a day off, I love spending time with my family and friends on the lake, fishing or playing just about any kind of water sport. And when the lakes freeze over, it’s hockey. Following our children in their sports and other activities is a real joy.
