I like to think of myself as a patient care advocate. Whether you're coming in with an acute problem or a chronic problem, I want to help you achieve your goals. Patient satisfaction is at the core of what we do.
Back when I was attending college at Bethel University, it become clear to me that I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to help and serve people while tapping into my love of science. Now, as a physician, I find I enjoy spending time educating patients just as much as I love performing surgery. I consider myself a patient advocate, trying to make the best recommendations to them for their ongoing health.
By nature, I am a problem solver and a creative thinker. If I weren’t a doctor, I think I’d be an entrepreneur. Something I’ve really enjoyed over the years is working with medical device companies helping to advance the field through innovation.
I believe it’s important to remember that as physicians, our first responsibility is to “do no harm.” At the same time, I remind myself that the only thing we can truly control is our own actions and attitudes. These two mantras help provide perspective in my daily professional and personal life.
When I get a chance to relax, I love spending time with my family and friends. And having grown up in Minnesota, when the weather cooperates, that means spending time on the lakes.
